A3 transparency paper
A paper lantern designed as a Christmas gift from the Theaterhaus Gessnerallee, a Swiss theater based in Zürich. For the four Advent Sundays before Christmas Eve, the Gessnerallee planned four children's plays with widely diverse subjects:
1. Choco Loco — a man searches for the perfect cocoa bean in the jungle;
2. Pandabu — a space-age musical about recycling and the quest to find plant life on Earth;
3. Nebensache — a lonely and constant traveler longs to have a farm and a family;
4. Die Belagerung — a family stranded in the middle of a Siberian winter fights for survival against a pack of wolves.
To celebrate the Advent season and promote the theater's 2009 Christmas program, I created illustrations on each side of the paper lantern that depict the four featured plays. Each scene lists the play name, date, and time of performance, as well as which Advent Sunday the play falls on. The scenes also transition into each other to create a continuous panorama.
